How it All Started:

Imagine this, after a wild weekend in Ohio at Lost Lands, Matison returns to her usual day-to-day of school at SJSU and work at PF Chang's. Like most restaurants, you leave for a week and suddenly there are multiple new hires you suddenly have to bully into submission...well, one of these newbies was Tomas!

They were put on closing shift together, just a server and busboy, suffering in the hospitality industry until the wee hours of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. At first, this was strictly a professional relationship, they held each other up in order to prevent full crash outs and so they could go the hell home! They supported and listened to each other during these closing shifts, and eventually started hanging out after work at Antonio's Nut House in Palo Alto (RIP) and on their days off going on mini-adventures to Santa Cruz. One time Tomas and another coworker were going to Santa Cruz to surf, Matison sat on the cliff waiting for him to join her for FOUR hours; they then subsequently called out of work to roam the coastline until the sun went down.

Their relationship started out as two people working together and delicately flowed into friendship, however Matison was totally crushing, telling her friends that he was her work husband...slippery slope you see. One evening in June of 2019, Matison and Tomas were driving together and he shared his feelings for her, which obviously were reciprocated; how embarrassing that could've been. Ever since, they've continued to work well together (have you ever renovated a home with your partner? nightmare fuel), support each other, take care of each other, and most importantly, laugh and love together.
