Frequently Asked Questions
As a teacher, I've definitely thought through it all, look below to see if I have answered your questions. If not, please reach out to us!
RSVPs
How do I RSVP?
When do I need to RSVP by?
Please RSVP by June 13th. I will be on summer break and I will hunt you down.
Can I bring a plus one?
We are not allowing additional plus ones to our wedding. The names of every guest invited to attend is clearly listed on your invitation.
Am I allowed to bring my children?
In relation to the question above, your children are invited if they are on the invitation. We think we included everybody's kiddos, if you think that we missed your young humans please reach out to us. We will mention that there won't be a kids menu or children's activities available as most kids invited are babies or teenagers. We also totally understand wanting to leave your kids at home too, this is up to you and please indicate who all is coming on the RSVP.
Travel, Directions, Transport
Where is the wedding?
Our venue's address is 43265 Fish Rock Rd, Gualala, CA 95445.
There will be signs posted to help guide you to parking and the party. This venue is not very wheelchair friendly as most of it is dirt path.
What is the easiest way to get to and from the venue?
We suggest that you drive to the venue, there will be a parking area for guests and transport in a Polaris Ranger to the event space. There will not be any shuttles to and from the hotels.
What is the best airport to fly into?
We have a few flyers coming into California, this is going to look very different depending on your connections in the state. We suggest flying into SFO as it is the closest big airport in the area. From there., the wedding is a 3 hour drive North, if you need support with travel, please reach out to Matison.
Have you reserved hotel blocks?
We have not reserved any hotel blocks due to the small local hotels and motels not offering this service. Please check out the travel page to see the local hotels that we suggest.
Do I need to book a hotel?
Yes, we strongly suggest that you book a local hotel. While getting to Gualala is not that difficult, driving back to urban California at 11pm is not a good idea. Gualala is about a 1.5 hour drive just to get back to Petaluma and we know most of our CA guests live in the Bay, which is about a 3 hour drive.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
Our wedding will be fully outdoors with some tents and natural shade from the beautiful trees. The venue is located on the top of a mountain ridge, so we anticipate it to be warm/hot outside..
Attire and Dress Code
What is the dress code?
The dress code for the wedding is Garden-Formal attire. Because dress codes feel like a foreign language, this means dress pants/button-up shirts/midi or maxi dresses/comfortable dress shoes. We are hoping for all of our guests to resemble the exuberant colors of flowers in the rich backgrounds of tall pine, redwood, and oak trees. If you would like inspiration, here is a Pinterest Board
.
Are there any colors or styles you would prefer me to avoid?
All colors are encouraged, whatever makes you feel your best! I too will be colorful, so no need to avoid white (but also, who wears all white? Bring the colors!). We don't want guests to feel as if they need to buy a whole new outfit for this event, we do ask that that you avoid jeans and/or flip flops.
Are there any weather/climate suggestions?
Yes, we strongly suggest that if you plan to wear a dress that it not be floor length. We will be outside, your dress will get dirty, I will be sad for you. We also suggest that your shoes are comfortable and if you would like to wear heels that you choose wedges to increase your ability to manage the terrain. It will be warm/hot on this fine August day, having removable layers is also a good choice.
Food and Beverages
What type of food will be served at the event?
We will be serving charcuterie-style snacks and live-fire BBQ appetizers during cocktail hour. For dinner, we will be serving buffet style BBQ with meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free options for both mains and sides.
Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions?
Yes, if you have a specific dietary need, please indicate so on your digital RSVP. We have planned for having vegetarian mains and sides, gluten free options, and we will be nut-free as well. We will not have any children's dishes at the wedding.
Will there be an open bar?
There will be an open bar for guests during the cocktail hour and reception. We will not be serving any liquor at our wedding.
General
What is the schedule for the wedding?
You can find all information about the day of and events on the Info page.
Will there be a ceremony?
No. We will be having a private ceremony prior to the event so we can focus on spending time with you all and be able to enjoy all the things we have planned. There will be a short program during the reception to honor our ceremony for our guests.
Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding? Can I share them?
Yes please! We will not be hiring a photo/video team for the event, please take as many photos and videos as you would like. We will have disposable cameras floating around the event as well, feel free to pick one up and snap a few shots. You are also welcome to share these on social media as you see fit. Please also make sure to share them with us too, we want to see all perspectives!
Is there anything I should bring?
We suggest having some sunglasses, a removable layer, and sunscreen. Depending on the time of day there may be some warm sunshine.
Do you have a wedding registry?
Our registry is currently in progress.
Where should we bring/send our wedding gift?
Your presence with us at the wedding is the most important gift of all. If you would like to honor us with a gift, you can have it delivered to our home at 3444 Murdoch Court, Palo Alto, CA 94306. There will be a wedding card box at the reception.
I have more questions about your wedding, who should I ask?
You are welcome to contact me (Matison) via text at 510-461-5687. You can also text Tomas, he will then ask me and he will answer, but I'm there in spirit.
